University of Michigan | Master of Social Work

Introduction:

I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and again in 2010 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. My undergraduate coursework focused on developmental and clinical psychology as well as women’s and gender-related health studies. During graduate school, my areas of concentration were interpersonal practice and mental health, with a focus on children and families. I am licensed by the State of Michigan Board of Social Work as a Master Social Worker, Clinical License #6801092878. I have several years of experience providing outpatient mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families at community mental health agencies and privately owned mental health centers.

Approach:

As your therapist, my primary goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging space for you to work through your struggles. As I get to know you, your strengths, and your challenges, we will work together to identify the goals you want to reach during our work together. I use an integrative approach with my clients, drawing from several evidence-based practices including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Strengths-Based approaches, and Attachment theory.

Success in therapy requires commitment and effort on your part, both in and outside of our sessions. During our work together, I encourage you to be open, honest, and vulnerable with me. In return, I will make every effort to create a safe, warm, and unconditionally accepting environment for us to find a path forward for you. If you attend sessions consistently and are fully engaged in the treatment process, you will be more likely to reach your treatment goals. Moreover, if there is anything I can do differently during our time together to make you feel more comfortable, please feel free to communicate this to me. Above all things, I am your ally, and I am willing to learn and grow alongside you so that I can be a better support for you.
