Oakland University | Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Introduction:

I attended Central Michigan University and graduated from their Psychology program with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. I am currently in my last semester at Oakland University, and will graduate in August 2023 as a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked at the Oakland University Counseling Center and saw a large variety of different counseling clients. I also have 7 years of experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, such as sexual assault or domestic violence as both a social worker and a counselor.

Approach:

My approach is client-centered and social-justice informed. I approach therapy with the knowledge and ongoing learning of systems of oppression, such as racism and sexism, and how those systems impact my clients. My client and I are equals in my office, and therapy is expected to be a casual, respectful, and safe space. I often use tools from Cognitive Behavioral and Narrative therapy to use during session to aid in treatment of mood and anxiety disorders.

Over the course of a case, I will be working closely with a supervisor at Triad. This supervisor will be overseeing my cases to ensure all clients receive the best possible care.
